Latest TF2 Update
Written by Mani
Sunday, 04 May 2008

Hi all,

I appologize for the site being down for a few days, it appears we had a database issue causing the problem but it is back up now!!

Kleos was kind enough to provide an updated gametypes.txt file for TF-2 and Isias made a post that is shown below.

As to the status of the plugin, well it's pretty much on hold in terms of new features. When the CSS port to the Orange engine is complete I will of course update the plugin to remain compatible.

Thank you for the incredible support on this site, there are a great many people who really make the plugin what it is today.

Thanks

Mani

The post from Isias is below.

The latest update from ValVe for Team Fortress 2 might have broken some features of Mani Admin Plugin. To increase the stability of Mani Admin Plugin and prevent crashes, kleos did an update of the gametypes.txt using ma_autovfunc 1-3 etc.

If running Team Fortress 2, it is advised to use the latest stable gametypes.txt, if you're running any other mod than that (Cs:S, DoD:S etc.) this is not necessary (although it won't harm your System).

The updated gametypes.txt can be downloaded from the downloads link above

The gametypes.txt needs to be placed in cfg\mani_admin_plugin, afterwards restart the server. If you need further information about the latest TF2 Update, check out the pinned topic in the forum.

Installing Mani as MetaMod: Source plugin
Written by Viper

Since there are a lot of people asking us what is the difference between the standard (VSP) version of Mani's Admin Plugin and the MetaMod: Source version I created this small document to tell you what the difference is and how to install it.

CreateVDF V1.1
Written by Mani
Friday, 26 October 2007

A number of users have pointed out that the CreateVDF.exe file does not include the latest TeamFortress game type. I have uploaded a new version of the CreateVDF utility that includes the game type 'tf' which can be downloaded in the links at the top right of this web page. You may also notice that the executable size is now only 19KB which is because the old version was a Debug build that adds substantially more information into the executable. Once the next version of the plugin is released I will package it with the new version.

If you are still running V1.0 of CreateVDF.exe you can still use it for creating a Team Fortess VDF file by simply typing in tf in the drop down box instead of selecting a game type.

Release Beta S
Written by Mani

V1.2s Orange is currently only for Team Fortress 2 using the new Valve engine
V1.2s is for the remaining games eg CSS, DODS using the legacy Valve engine

The old V1.1 series is now officially dead due to menu incompatibilities so I've removed the download link.

For those with V1.2r, the only differences are the binaries (mani_admin_plugin.dll/.so, mani_admin_plugin_mm.dll/.so) and the gametypes.txt files

Technical differences between versions: -

As this has only been an attempt to bring things up to date, there is only one fix that stops people bypassing the weapons restriction code within SMM. I am also aware that in TF2 that the menus only display for 4 seconds before disappearing. This is not a bug in the plugin but a bug in the TF2 code. I can potentially fix this but I would prefer Valve to do something about it as my fix (re-displaying menus every 4 seconds) would most likely clash with other plugins.

Progress 3
Written by Mani

Okay, so a frustrating weekend is almost over but I have a linux Orange version that for the most part is running Team Fortress succesfully. The next stage is to make sure it's all working okay on both linux and windows before releasing to the world. Again, the lack of a proper SDK has made this very time consuming but I think we are nearly there.

Progress Update 2
Written by Mani
Thursday, 18 October 2007

Contrary to what I posted yesterday about working on the linux version I ported the plugin to the latest SourceMM 1.4.x series on windows then moved on with getting an Orange version ready. This isn't as straightforward as I expected and isn't helped by not having an 'official' SDK to work with.

What I think we will end up with is effectively 8 different versions of the plugin to distribute....

For non-orange games: -

  • VSP version using the latest SourceHook library (linux/windows)
  • SourceMM  version using SourceMM 1.4.x (linux/windows)

For orange games (currently only TF2): -

  • VSP version using the latest SourceHook library (linux/windows)
  • SourceMM  version using SourceMM 1.6.x (linux/windows)

Hopefully once the SDK is released and older games are ported to the Orange engine it will not be necessary to maintain the non-orange versions. How long this will take I am not sure. From the Mani Admin Plugin coding point of view it will still share 99% of the source code across all versions.

Progress Update

After some coding last night I have got it working with SMM 1.6 and an updated VSP version with the latest SourceHook code. Tonight I will be sorting out the linux version.

After this I will start Orange Box compatibility with TF2.

There is still much to do but I am encouraged by the speed of progress Smile

Continued development....

As mentioned below the rumours are indeed true. I would like to extend my thanks to everyone for keeping this site alive and supported in my absence. It means very much to me, I thank you all.

First order of the day is to get the plugin working with S:MM 1.6 and fix anything that has been broken in my absence. Another priority is to get something working with the Orange Box updates that will appear soon as games are ported across to it.

We're all anxious to get our servers up and running with the latest versions of the source engine, but until we all know more please keep checking back to receive the latest news!

V1.2 Beta R released
Written by Mani
Saturday, 23 December 2006

Well it seems that there are a few problems related to V1.2 Beta Q and HL2DM so Beta Q will not be the final beta in the series. There is now a new V1.2 Beta R release to fix the HL2DM issues and a couple of other small things related to Source TV that affects all game mods

Information on the details and downloads can be found here
